From 18 to 22 December 2025, the MedicalMet team embarked on a company trip to Sapa, Vietnam — a well-earned break after a year of consistent year-over-year growth. The five-day journey took us from Hanoi through an overnight train ride to Lao Cai, and finally by minibus up into the misty highlands of Sapa. It was our way of saying thank you to every team member who helped make 2025 our strongest year yet.
Why Did We Choose Sapa for the 2025 Company Trip?
After a high-energy go-kart Grand Prix in 2024, we wanted something completely different — a chance to slow down, explore, and recharge together. Sapa offered exactly that. Nestled in northern Vietnam at over 1,500 metres above sea level, the town is surrounded by terraced rice fields, mountain peaks, and a culture unlike anything back home in Malaysia.
The cooler climate was a major draw. Temperatures during our visit ranged from 8 to 19 degrees Celsius — a dramatic change from the tropical heat we are used to. Some of us were secretly hoping for snow (Sapa occasionally sees it in December), but temperatures never quite dropped to zero. Still, bundling up in winter gear and watching our breath in the cold air was an experience most of the team had never had before.
The Journey: Hanoi to Lao Cai to Sapa
The trip started with a flight from Malaysia to Hanoi. From there, we boarded an overnight sleeper train to Lao Cai — a roughly eight-hour ride through the Vietnamese countryside. Sleeping on a moving train was a first for many team members, and the shared cabins sparked plenty of late-night conversations and card games.
Arriving in Lao Cai early in the morning, we transferred to a minibus for the final stretch up the winding mountain roads to Sapa. Watching the landscape shift from flat lowlands to steep, green hillsides was one of the most scenic drives any of us had experienced. We checked into Pao Hotel, our base for the trip, which offered panoramic views of the Hoang Lien Son mountain range.
Conquering Fansipan: The Roof of Indochina
The highlight of the trip was our visit to Fansipan — the highest peak in Vietnam and all of Indochina at 3,143 metres. We took the cable car from Sun World Fansipan Legend up through the clouds, with the mountainside dropping away beneath us. The views from inside the cabin were stunning, and the team could not stop taking photos as we climbed higher.

At the summit, we were greeted by clear blue skies, a sea of clouds below, and a historic Buddhist temple perched at the very top. The air was thin and biting cold, but the sense of achievement was worth it. Standing together at the highest point in Indochina felt like a fitting metaphor for the heights we have reached as a company in 2025.

Exploring Sapa Town and Local Culture
Beyond Fansipan, the team explored Sapa town on foot. The local markets were a highlight — vibrant stalls selling handwoven textiles, traditional clothing, and local produce. Several team members tried on traditional Hmong and Red Dao garments for photos, and the friendly market vendors made it easy to immerse ourselves in the local culture.

The evenings in Sapa were equally memorable. With temperatures dropping to single digits after sunset, the team gathered over warm Vietnamese pho, hot pot, and local coffee. These relaxed moments — away from screens and deadlines — are where real connections form. Conversations ranged from personal travel stories to bold ideas for what MedicalMet could build next.

None of that happens without a team that gives their best every day.
“The strength of a product reflects the strength of the team behind it. Sapa reminded us that the MedicalMet team is not just colleagues — we are people who genuinely enjoy building and growing together.”
